Yesterday, I mentioned that Mickey’s Jammin Jungle Parade is my favorite parade, ever. A commenter brought up Walt Disney World’s SpectroMagic Parade, and I have to amend myself. While Jammin Jungle is still my favorite parade, I really feel that SpectroMagic Parade is the most awe inspiring.

About Walt Disney World’s SpectroMagic Parade:

Walt Disney World’s SpectroMagic parade is the most visually stunning, and aurally pleasing of the Disney parades. In my opinion, it’s the most stunning parade, ever. Not only are all of the floats covered in sparkling lights, but every character and whatever those other people who march in parades are called,  are decked out in lights.  Several of the floats and characters are actually covered in lights that change from multi-colored lights to clear white lights and back again.

SpectroMagic Parade Music:

In my opinion, the SpectroMagic parade music is the most beautiful of Walt Disney World’s attractions and shows. I first heard the SpectroMagic music on an internet radio station that plays soundtracks from Walt Disney World rides, attractions, shows, and area music. I cried the first time I heard it. The SpectroMagic music can just tug at your heart strings. It’s absolutely beautiful.

I couldn’t justify the costs of buying the SpectroMagic cd after the first time I watched it, but a few trips later, my mother in law went with us. She loved it so much, that I bought us each a copy.

It’s fairly difficult to find SpectroMagic music outside of Walt Disney World. There is no such thing as a SpectroMagic MP3 unless you make it yourself. If you want to buy a SpectroMagic cd, it’s easiest to simply pick one up while you’re visiting the Magic Kingdom, but you can often find one or two copies of the SpectroMagic cd here, and there’s always a few copies of the SpectroMagic cd available here, but they’re a bit pricier. Well worth it, though, if you aren’t planning another trip to the World for a while.

Best Place To Watch The SpectroMagic Parade:

If you’re planning a Walt Disney World vacation, you’ll want to plan ahead to watch the SpectroMagic parade. There are many opinions on which is the best place to watch the SpectroMagic Parade. Some people prefer to sit by Cinderella’s Castle and watch the the SpectroMagic Parade coming towards you. Some people prefer to sit near the Main Street train station so that Cinderella’s Castle is part of the show. Others prefer quieter spots.

I have two favorite places to watch the SpectroMagic parade. My absolute favorite right now is the small, covered bench near Cinderella’s Castle. Before the parade begins, you can look out the side to watch the light show on the castle, or sit comfortably while waiting for the SpectroMagic parade to start. The bench is far enough back from the edge of the sidewalk, that most people don’t bother trying to wait for the parade there, as they’re too busy trying to squeeze as close to the front as they can. The truth is, unless you’re filming or have someone very tall in front of you, you can see the floats just fine from the back of the crowd, and will only miss characters coming to greet you.

The other spot that I think is the best place to watch the SpectroMagic parade from, is in Liberty Square. As the parade circles the area in front of Cinderella’s Castle, it crosses a small bridge and into Liberty Square. There are fewer people in this section than there are in front of the castle and on Main Street, but the parade itself doesn’t change. I’ve heard that it’s even less crowded further into Frontierland, but I’ve not watched SpectroMagic from there, yet.

Watch SpectroMagic Parade on DVD:

While Disney has not put out a SpectroMagic DVD officially, there are a number of fan produced DVDs of SpectroMagic, Wishes, and other shows/attractions at Walt DisneyWorld. The link above will take you to most of the Fan DVDs, whereas this link will take you to the Jeff Lange produced DVDs which include SpectroMagic.
